Tai Chi
Tai chi is a practice that involves a series of slow, gentle movements and physical postures, a meditative state of mind, and controlled breathing. Tai chi originated as an ancient martial art in China. Over the years, it has become more focused on health promotion and rehabilitation.
At Bonafide Acupuncture & Herbs, we incorporate these time-honored techniques of Tai Chi in Brooklyn, NY, to improve strength, flexibility, aerobic conditioning, and balance. It relaxes the body and allows the life force to flow freely. Tai chi consists of exercises that maintain the balance between yin and yang.
Alec Menge studied Yang Tai Chi Chuan since 2008. He initially studied under Master CK Chu until his passing in 2014. Since then, he has continued at Master Ck Chu's school under Master Hiland Harris, learning Nei Kung (internal stance training), fighting applications, push hands, and silk reeling.
He continues to develop the Yang Tai Chi Long Form while incorporating Yang Ban Hou's style, which includes more active footwork, higher kicks, and a very low stance, which is very seldom taught today in Yang style. Alec feels a strong need to teach the authentic Yang Style of Tai Chi Chuan since it is very rare to see anyone teach it from a real martial arts perspective today.
